The first time I gave blood was in the early 1980′s when I worked for Saccone & Speed at their Park Royal facility in London right next to the Guinness brewery. The Red Cross used to set up in the brewery and after donating blood we were heavily encouraged to recover by drinking a pint of freshly pulled Guinness and some cookies, needless to say there were long queues of donors. I’ve kept up the donor habit and have made it one of our regular CSR activities in TRG International every 3 months. The Saigon Times Group hold an annual Blood Donor day on their anniversary and we’ve made it a habit to support them each year, no Guinness but we get a good breakfast in Blue Ginger.
